Do you feel like I do?

I feel good..... I knew that I would....

I just didn't realize HOW good I would feel....

I became unemployed today.... and I feel fine.... ;-)

My hospital has been going thru some hard times lately due to the loss of a major insurance contract and many years of financial mismanagement that finally caught up to us. They started talking "right sizing" (what a snarky phrase-whoever thought that one up should be shot) back in December and things really heated up in the last 3 or 4 weeks.

Our little tiny subdivision of the department (5 educators) knew it was coming (well, most of us did) and started making other arrangements.... 3 of the other instructors moved to another division in our department (IT), I applied for a transfer but didn't quite get it, and of course, one was blindsided.

But, thanks to the foresight of my beloved boyfriend and totally practical sister, the profits I made on the sale of my house were put into an emergency fund for just such an event. And it is for that reason I feel sooooooo good.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a nurse, I can get a job anywhere. Totally true. And I applied for 2 other jobs last week. And I will file for unemployment tomorrow. And I have applied for an open position back in my own department, which may come to fruition. But there is enough money in the kitty to keep me going quite fine for the next little bit, so I feel absolutely NO pressure to go out and accept the first job tossed my way.

This is the most wonderful position to be in. I wish everyone who got down-sized could feel like I do.

Once again (as my sister would say), the Money Fairy has farted on my head.

But just to hedge my bets, I bought $10 worth of Mega Millions tickets today.

May you be the single winner of the Mega Millions and share it with your family and boyfriend so we may all be unemployed!!!

Your loving sister!

Frank got "right-sized" once, with three months severance pay even. You are taking it better than he did I think. He went on a week long fishing trip to recover, and took a month off from working! No more vacations for him!

Your cousin, long lost?
Milly
