Golfing with your life....

A question was posed (by an avid golofer) on the radio the other day.... what would you do if you were given a mulligan for your life? (Mulligan. Definition: Most simply put, a "do-over.") Just one. What would you change?

Better yet.... why would you change it?

And... if you did change it, would you still be the person you are today?

Or are we truly the sum of our decisions?

Summer Rain

A lazy summer storm wandered past my parents house today. Sprinkles tapped on the deck and roof, toyed with the flowers. Long rumbley growls of thunder were background music to the birds. The sun poked out between clouds, sparkling the leaves. The family draped themselves across the furniture, full from the Starved Rock Lodge Sunday buffet and drowsy from the drive home.... A DVD of another nutty family played on TV.... the antics of Mike Leonard and clan reminding us of ourselves.

All in all, a good day.

Potential new job update...

Well... It took 2 days to connect with the HR lady... she wanted references... so I gave her the name of someone who does my job at another hospital (whom I have know since day 1 in this position) and my current manager (whom I get along with fabulously!). And then I waited thru ANOTHER weekend that seemed to have WAY too many hours to endure......... And then this last Monday.... my buddy from the other hospital emails me and says to call. Which I try....

and try....

and try...

And instead of her hospital... I get... (no ringing involved here) 'White Caps Nursing Agency' ???

Or.... 'Hi, this is Dave... leave a message'

and.... 'Hello??? (again no ringing involved) Hello??' 'Um, hi.. .is this the hospital?' 'No.... this is the mental health clinic'... 'Oh, shit'

And so the phones continued... apparently there was a screw-up in one of our buildings that screwed phones all over the neighborhood... oops....

She finally called me... HR called... the interview went well... and she lamented my leaving... but understands the "it's time to do something new" issue. She, too, has job-hopped around a bit....

And then my manager called and said HR had called and the interview went well and she told HR that I would be missed if they hired me.....

And I waited some more....

And some more.....

And on Thursday, the HR lady called me..... AND OFFERED ME A JOB!!!!!!!!!

WHOOHEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However.... she sort of encouraged me not to accept the offer she made because they are trying to increase the pay grade for my position and she would have better information on Monday or Tuesday and would I like to think about the job over the weekend? and she would call early next week...

WELL, DUH!!!!!!!!!!

I told her I would be happy to hear from her on Monday... ;-)

I am a happy girl....

YIPPEE!!

THEY CALLED
THEY CALLED
THEY CALLED.......

Of course, it was at the end of their business day when I was out in the ED (which had fallen apart in the worst way) helping put out fires so I didn't get a chance to talk back... but you can bet

I WILL BE ON THE PHONE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING!!!!

The waiting is killing me...

Interview number one went great!!! I am very impressed with the 2 people I met and we all seemed to think the talking was productive.

Now it's sit around and wait until they call.

I hope they call
I hope they call
I hope they call
I hope they call

Soon

Inteview Number One

Well... here we go on the change of job/career/life thingie..... interview #1 is today. I just finished with a dream in which I presented directly to the department that was hiring, spent an hour with a very confused person and then I went home... without stopping in Human Resourses to see the lady who set up the interview.... oops. I now have her letter of welcome and instruction tattooed upside down on my chest so I don't lose it or forget it.... Unfortunately, in order for the directions to remain easily accessable, I will have to go naked from the waist up.

I'll let you know how it goes.
